Known for their impressive catalogue of MSX hardware projects, the RBSC recently unveiled the OmniSCC, an MSX cartridge designed with a focus on SCC audio output, DSK emulation, and ROM loading.
It is great to see MSX hardware ideas come to live to serve that old 8-bit machine. The Russian Bear Service Crew, or RBSC for short, is never short on such ideas and makes them come alive for the community to enjoy. From their beloved Carnivore series to their newest creation, the OmniSCC, they’ve once again produced something extraordinary.
The OmniSCC is a versatile new cartridge for MSX computers, bringing together ROM loading, SCC sound emulation, and floppy disk image support in one package. Powered by the RP2040 microcontroller, it also offers 16 MB of flash storage for games and apps. Whether you use it as a stand-alone device with a built-in ROM file selection menu, or as an SCC audio extension to enhance existing games, this MSX hardware will take your machine to the next level.
And the best part is, we got one!
Thanks for all the cool hardware, RBSC, and especially for joining MSXdev as a sponsor by adding a copy of the OmniSCC cartridge to this year’s loot box. Awesome!
