Metroidvania/Horror themed action adventure
Another addition to the MSXdev24 winners-loot-box! This time a physical ROM cartridge of the MSX-2 game Phenix Corrupta from last year’s edition.
Indie game developer Casper Croes has donated a cartridge version of his game, Phenix Corrupta. The title may ring a bell as it participated in MSXdev23, securing a top 10 position in overall ranking, sound, and graphics. The game has undergone bug fixes, received updates with new features, and has been transferred to physical media. French retro gaming shop Côté Gamers is handling its publication.
In this horror-themed metroidvania you try to escape from hell, and while it might not be too long (or so the developer claims), it is not a walk in the park. It has a great setting, different endings, challenging gameplay and excellent graphics and sound. Check out our news post “MSXdev23 #27 Phenix Corrupta” for the full story. Phenix Corrupta is a game that will fit nicely in any MSX-2 collection.
If you can’t wait for the contest to finish to claim this item, you can preorder a copy of the Phenix Corrupta cartridge from Côté Gamers. Or get the latest ROM from the developer’s page in itch.io. Many thanks to Casper Croes -author of the game- for this excellent addition to the loot box.
