Extra, extra, read all about it! The PicoVerse 2040 multi cartridge has just been spotted at the loot box and is there to be picked by any winner of this year’s jam.
The MSXdev26 winners-loot-box is shaping up nicely with the addition of an amazing MSX extension from The Retro Hackers hardware experts. They contributed a PicoVerse 2040 MSX cartridge, which turns any MSX into a powerhouse with its ROM flashing capabilities and USB connectivity.
The PicoVerse 2040 is a single cartridge that plugs into the standard MSX cartridge slot and can serve as a ROM launcher, game cartridge, disk interface, keyboard adapter, MIDI interface, PSG-to-MIDI converter, or joystick adapter, depending on the firmware you load onto it. Use it as a multi-ROM boot device to launch your favorite MSX game directly from the cartridge with a built-in selection menu, or flash it with a dedicated ROM instead.
But wait, there’s more. The cartridge can also function as a MIDI interface or host any keyboard, joystick, or mouse through its USB connector. Or maybe you’d prefer to use that same connector to plug in a flash drive and have the PicoVerse 2040 act as a Sunrise IDE-compatible disk interface. Whatever your preference, it will obey without hesitation.
A truly remarkable piece of hardware, and we’ve got one.
The PicoVerse 2040 was dropped into our loot box by The Retro Hacker, a Brazilian retro hardware expert with a deep-rooted passion for classic home computer systems. We’re incredibly grateful for this amazing gift, thank you!
