The Space Bash Assault Corps has sent you, Ayla, on a crucial mission to “go kick some alien butts!” in this adventures game from Dave’s Retro Forge.
The game Space Bash: Contact!! is an action platformer beat’em up in the style of Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros, Tumblepop, or the actual MSX title Fairyland Story. One screen, platforms, ladders, items, and a sh!t load of alien scum.
The plan is simple: Clean up the aliens for each phase. You have your short distance Phaser Glove and when you collect energy you can also use your powerful secondary weapon. You also have a Portable Auto-stair Deployer (a.k.a. P.A.D., a.k.a. a Ladder) with you to maneuver around the screen. This equipment should suffice to stop the evil’s empire questionable expansion.
- It is a simple plan? Sure.
- Is it an easy plan? Hell no!
- Is it the kind of plan Ayla likes? Absolutely!
This game brings frantic action, beautiful graphics, catchy music and and absolute 80s vibe to it. If you like this style of games, and you were sad we only had Fairyland story for the MSX-1, then rejoice, as this game is a fantastic addition to the genre.
